Matthew began his fine dining career here at the Hobbit over a decade ago - time flies when you're having fun! In 2012 he moved to Texas, where he worked at Bob's Steak and Chophouse before coming back to California. He spent a couple of years with Mastro's Steakhouse as a sommelier and service trainer and most recently worked as a sommelier for the prestigious resort, Montage Laguna Beach. Having a wide array of experience in the industry, from small family-owned restaurants to very high volume, fast paced environments, returning to the Hobbit is a sort of homecoming for Matt. His passion for food, wine, people and genuine hospitality is infections - and he strongly believes that gathering around the table with great food, good wine and lively conversation creates some of life's best memories.
